A pulpal infection occurs when bacteria seeps underneath your tooth and contaminates your dental pulp. Your dentist will most likely need to perform a root canal in order to thoroughly remove the infection. The infection should be removed as quickly as possible since it can spread to other areas throughout your mouth. Before this happens, you may experience a large amount of discomfort that includes pain. This pain can make it difficult to carry out some of your daily activities. Your infection site may also become swollen and inflamed. Fortunately, there are a few tips that you can use in order to get some relief for your pulpal infection.

Rinse Hourly with Salt Water

The only thing that you can do once you get a pulpal infection is to try to ease any inflammation. The easiest way to do this is by gargling with warm salt water several times a day. Salt water works well to reduce infection and ease any discomfort. You can make your own salt water rinse by boiling distilled water and dissolving a spoonful of salt in the water. Wait for the mix to cool to room temperature, then work it around your mouth. Hold it near your infection site and keep it there for several minutes. Perform this routine every hour, especially after your meals. Eating without removing leftover debris and contaminants can cause your dental pulp to flare up.

Rinse with Clove Tea

Cloves have a special place in dental care because they are considered to be an analgesic. This property allows them to easily offer pain relief immediately after a dental procedure. You can get the benefits from cloves by creating a clove tea. Add a spoonful of dried cloves to a cup of hot water and give the herbs time to steep. The longer they are left untouched the better. After a few hours, use the tea to rinse around your infection site. Keep your infected touch fully submerged in the tea rinse before spitting it out and rinsing with warm water. If you have tea leftover, then you can drink the rest. Use the clove tea rinse after every meal in order to get the best amount of relief.

Once your dentist is able to remove your pulpal infection you should notice a huge difference in the pain and discomfort. Until this happens, use these tips to get some form of relief from the infection.
